Community Independence
Stewardship, not ownership
Developers and rights holders retain their intellectual property. Hosting does not transfer ownership. Communities retain their identity and reasonable autonomy within their agreements and applicable foundation policies.
Responsibilities
Community administrators may continue administering their communities under agreed responsibilities. Each supported project should have documented administrators, access responsibilities and escalation contacts.
Foundation safeguards
The foundation may enforce security, legal, infrastructure and acceptable-use requirements, and must be able to suspend unsafe, unlawful or materially abusive services.
Transition and portability
Project data should be exportable where technically feasible and legally permitted. If hosting ends, reasonable efforts should provide advance notice and transferable materials to authorized successors. Contractual, legal, security and technical limits may restrict exports or notice.
